Riverbends, Inc. exists to promote African-American genealogy and history. We are nonprofit, independent, and online. Riverbends works with public, private, parochial and charter schools, as well as with religious, civic and corporate groups. We offer lectures and workshops on how digital technology can help you capture and learn from your family history - and on what you and your organization can learn from the perspective of Black History. The resources and services available here at Riverbends are designed to meet the needs of African-American genealogists and historians, but everyone interested in researching and sharing information about their family histories will find value and inspiration at Riverbends.
Welcome to Riverbends!
A Digitized Heritage.
“For over 10 years, I have researched my family history. I have tracked down the documents, walked the cemeteries, learned the songs, collected the recipes, and gathered the photographs. Now, I want to use technology to share all of this with everyone, in hopes that they will be inspired to research and share their own family histories. In this way, a new kind of American History can be stitched together - in the form of an indivisible, digital quilt.“
